The DirectNewsNow Team is fully committed to ensuring that your online
privacy is protected during your visit. We want you to feel comfortable
sharing information with us. Our privacy policy explains what we
do with the information that we collect from you.
If significant changes to this privacy policy are made, the changes
will be posted on this page and we will attempt to contact each
of our members via the contact email address that was supplied
when their account was created.
For the purposes of this statement DirectNewsNow and DirectNewsNow.com are
defined as all software, web sites and web pages owned or operated
by DataSwitch Information Services, Inc. under (but not limited
to) the airwarn.com, cs-int.com, dataswitch.com, directnewsnow.com, fosbulletins.com,
seawarn.com, stormnow.com, stormwarn.com, thunderwarn.com, and
wxalert.com domains and connected computers.
DirectNewsNow.com collects information about our customers in two
ways...
- INFORMATION PROVIDED TO DIRECTNEWSNOW.COM
- Provided information refers to information that you are
asked to or required to provide either via website, or
by an administrator.
- In order to use the services DirectNewsNow provides,
you must become a member. To do so, we'll require you to
enter information about yourself including name, address,
phone number, and email address (among others). We use
this information to better understand our target audience,
develop new features, and to contact you if there is an
issue with your account. All information you provide to
us is done so under the terms of this privacy statement.
- INFORMATION GATHERED BY DIRECTNEWSNOW.COM
- Gathered information refers to information that you do
not specifically provide to us, but we have the ability
gather (via log files) or derive (from account information).
- The DirectNewsNow website will log the IP address of
your computer, and the IP address of the website that you
have visited. Server log files may be used to derive further
information about your visit if necessary. Please read
section II for a more detailed description of how we use
the information we gather from you.
-
- ACCOUNT REGISTRATION INFORMATION
- All information that you provide when creating your DirectNewsNow
account will not be given to third parties without your
consent except in the limited circumstances described in
the section of this privacy policy entitled SHARING OF
YOUR INFORMATION WITH OTHERS. Only certain fields are required
when creating an account, and those are marked with an
asterisk (*). The information you provide may be used by
DataSwitch/DirectNewsNow when doing demographic or market
research. Once you have created an account, you may modify
the information you provided by clicking on the Modify
Your Account link on the left-hand side of the webpage.
- CONTACT INFORMATION
- Your contact information (contact phone number and contact
email) is only used as a means of us reaching you when
it is necessary to solve an account configuration issue
or billing problem. Occasionally, and very rarely, DataSwitch/DirectNewsNow
will send out email to members announcing scheduled downtimes,
upgrades, new services, or requesting feedback. Your contact
information may be used more frequently to notify you of
an account configuration or status issue.
- CREDIT CARD INFORMATION
- We currently do not provide our DirectNewsNow users any type of
automatic payment plan. Thus, DataSwitch does not store any of your
credit card information in our database or on our servers. We do,
however, allow users to pay for service with a credit card through a secure online
connection to rtware.net.
- ACCOUNT INFORMATION
- In an attempt to better understand the needs of our customers,
and evolve DirectNewsNow to match their needs, DataSwitch/DirectNewsNow
reserves the right to analyze the information that you provide
when subscribing for service and setting up your account, including,
but not limited to, selected regions, email domains, and selected
bulletins. This data is often used in troubleshooting account or
system problems. It is never shared with a third party, except
in the cases when it is necessary to resolve an account problem.
If we need to contact a service provider about your account, we
will require you to give us your permission before sharing any
information with them.
- WEBSITE INFORMATION
- IP Logging
A number that is assigned by your Internet Service Provider
to your computer to identify its location on their network.
DirectNewsNow.com logs your IP address when you first visit
our site. This allows us to generate traffic statistics
about our websites, troubleshoot problems, and perform
administrative tasks on our network.
- Cookies
A cookie is a small file that your web browser places on
your computer to store information about you. DirectNewsNow
may at times make limited uses of cookies to enhance your
browsing experience. For example, when you log into DirectNewsNow
from one of our websites, you'll have the option of checking
a box that says "Remember Login". By doing so,
your login and password will be saved to keep you from
having to enter it each time you visit our site. Your browser
gives you full control over whether to allow cookies or
not. Disallowing all cookies may prevent some limited aspects
of the website to work, such as the above described "Remember
Login" feature.
-
- Under no circumstances will DataSwitch Information Services
sell or otherwise provide any collected information to a third
party without your consent except for the following instances:
(i) unless required by applicable law or pursuant to a court
or similar order; (ii) as deemed necessary, in DataSwitch's
discretion, to protect the legal rights or the property of
DataSwitch/DirectNewsNow, a member or third party, or to prevent
personal injury; and/or (iii) in the event DataSwitch/DirectNewsNow
is required to transfer personally identifiable information
to a third party in the event of a sale, merger, assignment,
joint venture or other transfer or disposition of a portion
or all of the assets of DataSwitch/DirectNewsNow or its affiliated
entities (including, without limitation, in connection with
any bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
